Betsy Nordell

Trainer & Coach

Betsy joined Open Circle in 1993. Over the years, she has served the organization in various leadership capacities and currently is a trainer and coach. In addition to her work with Open Circle, Betsy is also involved with the Leading Together Program. Betsy earned her BSBA in Management (with a minor in Education) from Bucknell University. She spent 7 years in the corporate sector working for Scott Paper before earning her M.Ed. from Wheelock College. She then transitioned to teaching 4th grade, where she used Open Circle. More recently, in 2017, Betsy earned her Teaching and Learning doctorate from American International College. She currently is writing a book called Avoiding Burnout, Finding Fuel, Cultivating Success: Ideas from Exemplary Educators based on her doctoral research. Betsy has a passion for supporting teachers. Some of her particular areas of interest include curiosity, bias, compassion, mindfulness, gratitude, hope and the power of positive relationships to foster growth.
