This one-day workshop introduces key Open Circle vocabulary, skills and practices, and explores how administrators can provide leadership and support for SEL in their schools. Research has demonstrated that the commitment and active support of the principal is the main predictor for maintaining change in school settings and ensuring positive outcomes for students.
Participants develop strategies for encouraging consistent and effective Open Circle implementation at all grade levels, supporting teachers to embed SEL in everyday instruction, and creating a school climate where social and emotional skills are woven into the fabric of the school. Administrators will learn techniques for incorporating Open Circle practices into their interactions with students, staff, and families, and how to employ assessment tools for monitoring SEL progress and tracking SEL outcomes. Research shows that leadership is one of the two most critical factors for student achievement, closely following teacher quality.
Participants will receive one reference copy of the Open Circle Curriculum, Poster Set, the Administrator Manual and 7 PD hours.
