Heather is Open Circle's Communications and Training Coordinator and is a member of the Core Management Team.  She believes that social and emotional learning is an integral part of educating the whole child and critical for preparing people with life-long skills.  Prior to joining Open Circle, she was the Associate Director of Development and Operations for the Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. and created a volunteer-led community disaster education program at one American Red Cross chapter.  In the role of Community Service Program Coordinator as an Americorps*VISTA, Heather developed a student-run comprehensive collegiate service program at Bowling Green State University.  She also is a secretariat member with the American Model United Nations program in Chicago.  She earned a B.A. from Bowling Green State University and has completed coursework toward a M.P.P. at the University of Maryland. Her interests include organizational change, youth civic engagement, and nontraditional education through experiential learning and individual curiosity.
